About ‘Bruges / Brugge’:

‘Bruges / Brugge’ is a contemplative series shaped by fleeting observations, quiet reflections, and lived experiences during McGlade’s time spent in the medieval town of Bruges, in West Flanders, Belgium.

Inspired by the city’s distinctive architecture, material textures, and layered history, these paintings explore meditative, structured compositions that highlight rhythm, tactility, and the slow unfolding of time. Through restrained forms and muted contrasts, each work on board evokes a sense of harmony in simplicity, inviting moments of visual stillness and introspection.

About 'Garden Series':

'Garden Series', introduces colour-filled, playful, yet delicate and considered soft pastel works on paper, each of which celebrates the gardens surrounding her.

Garden Series is about "contemplating time spent wandering amongst gardens, across dew covered grass, where blossoming flowers perfume the air, mist hovers in the distance, and sunlight pierces through the trees. Through this, colour formations emerge." - Emmanuelle McGlade
