LIVIA WESTCOTT-LAHAR
Livia Westcott-Lahar (b. 1993) is a United States-based, abstract expressionist painter whose work carries forward the lineage of the Ninth Street Women. Particular in fluences include Grace Hartigan, Celia Paul, and Frank Auerbach.
Working primarily in acrylic and charcoal on canvas and linen, Westcott-Lahar's work explores gesture, colour, and spatial tension through a contemporary, intuitive approach to abstraction. Livia studied at the San Francisco Art Institute from 2018 to 2020 and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting.
Westcott-Lahar has exhibited her work at various exhibitions in the United States through MassArt in 2023 and was a featured artist in the A.P.E. Gallery (Northampton, MA) 2024 show entitled 'Variations in Monochrome: Limiting the Palette'.
