KERRI - NIOKA CLAY

Kerri of Nioka Clay is an emerging ceramic artist from the Adelaide Hills in South Australia.

Kerri’s journey with ceramics began in 2019 while undertaking a Visual Arts Diploma, during which time she discovered a profound and unexpected connection with clay. After completing her diploma, she continued to explore ceramics through self-guided hand-building techniques, uncovering her unique artistic voice. Her sculptures and vessels reflect personal growth and emotional depth, inspired by history, global cultures, and the beauty of the natural world.

Recognised for her distinctive style in mixing clays, Kerri's work has been exhibited and collected within Australia and internationally.

“Intuitively built by hand, my work is an outward expression of memory and story. As a restorative personal practice, I hand-roll coils of clay, using minimal tools, to create forms. Carefully balanced design considers the contrast between elegant symmetry and the organic nature of clay, drawing attention to texture and pattern reflective of the natural world.” - Kerri
