SAM THIES
Sam Thies is a Meanjin / Brisbane-based photographer and film-maker with a focus on capturing socio-cultural stories.
After originally studying multimedia, Thies pursued a career in design and art direction, and for 5 years worked in advertising agencies in Australia and the UK, however, the pull to document anthropological narratives was too strong. As such, for the past twelve years, he has travelled the world documenting local and foreign cultures and the environments that shape them.
Covering both modern and traditional themes, Thies’ visual studies explore place, time and human influence.
