Diana Miller is an abstract painter and assemblage artist based in Byron Bay, Australia. Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, her practice is grounded in shape-making and the expressive power of colour.
This series of small-scale works on board, titled All Smalls, extends Miller’s ongoing exploration of colour and shape-making. Many of these ideas began in a sketchbook that she recently committed to filling with coloured pencil and paint. Its intimacy and immediacy allow for an unrestrained approach to making: one guided by curiosity, spontaneity and a sense of play.
Within each work, Miller explores the processes of abstraction through assembling, Layering, and an assured understanding of arrangement and balance. Forms shift, intersect and respond to one another, creating compositions that feel both considered and instinctive.
All Smalls celebrates this ongoing process of discovery, where experimentation remains visible and the possibilities of shape, balance and colour continually evolve.
