About ‘Thermal Traces’:
This series of six semi-abstract landscape paintings by Eleanor Purseglove — titled ‘Thermal Traces’ — draws from photographs taken during Purseglove's recent journey to Aotearoa / New Zealand.
Through fluid brushwork and dream-like, shifting, atmospheric forms, the works trace points of convergence between heat, earth, water, and vapour. Rather than documenting specific locations, the paintings translate Purseglove's sensory experience of place — drifting edges, mineral colour, and dynamic ground — into painterly impressions that sit between observation, feeling, and memory.
