Lucy Rice is a visual artist residing in North Auckland, New Zealand. Rice holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Art (University of Auckland). Her practice explores gestural, generous layering of oil pastels and acrylics. This technique supports Rice in creating rich, thick, expressive textures and forms — inviting viewers to engage with each complex layer, and encouraging the viewer to explore their own personal connection with her works.

Rice draws inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes surrounding her; her works are infused with the essence of the sea, land and sky. Represented in galleries across Australia and New Zealand, Rice’s works enhance a space, while fostering a dynamic, soul-led, emotional presence.
