Of The Field

“Of the Field is a collection of oil paintings that originate from a mental visualisation that leads to a deep sense of peace.

In preparation for each of these works, I’d take time to sit still and breathe until I could mentally step into that place of the field and feel at peace. That’s a very real feeling, and these works are created from that state in order to bring an internal moment to life in the expression of the paintings.

There’s an honest acceptance of the way each brush stroke lands and marks the canvas when the process honours the experience over anything else.” - Tom J Simpson
